The question is... What will you do to help? Will you go? Will you send? I sat up for hours last night and again early this morning begging God to show me a way that our family could contribute to the cause. There are awesome opportunities to give to outreaches such as Compassion or the American Red Cross where you can text "HAITI" to 90999 to immediately give $10. Though both are amazing opportunities to give and will undoubtedly help so many Haitians, I still felt like there was more I could do personally.
Haiti's neighbor, the Dominican Republic, has always held a very special place in my heart. Hubby and I have talked many times about serving in the Dominican if the Lord leads in that direction. A ministry opportunity that has crossed our paths many times over the years is SCORE International. Almost in the very instant that the thought of SCORE entered my mind, a friend on Facebook (who works for SCORE's home office in Chattanooga, TN) posted about their plans to help in Haiti. SCORE International is organizing the "Help Haitians Rapid Response Effort" and will begin sending teams out the end of this month. They will use their facilities in the Dominican as a base of operations, since Haiti and the DR share an island. They are accepting donations now to help with food, clothes, and medical supplies.
We have decided as a family to give our support to SCORE's relief efforts. For each blog who links up below, we will give $10. For each comment (for those who do not have a blog) left below, we will donate $5. The minimum we will give is $50 and the maximum will be $200. Be sure to also visit the other blogs linked up to see other ways you can help. Also, if you can truly do nothing else, you can pray! Everyone can do something!
